Update On A TOP Legislative Priority
One of the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police’s legislative priorities in this legislative session was the opposition of HB 702 by Representative Jordan. HB 702 would have eliminated qualified immunity in state courts for Louisiana law enforcement officers.
HB 702 was deferred in the Civil Law Committee in the House of Representatives. A deferment means that the legislation CANNOT be heard again this session.
Thank you to all the members that engaged the process and sent Voter Voice emails. Your engagement did not go unnoticed. Chairman Miller admitted all email opposition to HB 702 into the record.
A special thanks to our legislative liaison, Joe Mapes and the whole Mapes & Mapes team.
Your legislative committee worked a tremendous amount this session to STOP this legislation.
The session is far from over and we will continue to work or the best for Louisiana’s largest and oldest rank-and-file law enforcement organization.
