Operation Clear Track

Dear Railroad Safety Partner,

As we get closer to Rail Safety Week this September 21-27, we want to thank those of you who have already registered for “Operation Clear Track 2020,” a public awareness initiative hosted by the Amtrak Police Department and Operation Lifesaver to promote safety along the railroad tracks in your community.

If you have not registered yet and would like to participate, please visit: https://operationlifesaver.wufoo.com/forms/m13ftut103yb5g1/

to sign-up and receive a free box of 500 railroad safety cards to distribute during your public events throughout the year.

As you know, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s campaign will be a VIRTUAL event, with the goal to spread the rail safety message in your communities online, via websites, social media and email. The virtual “Operation Clear Track” initiative will allow your department to support rail safety education and awareness and help reach so many in your community that are home.

Included in this email are the following resources:

  • A Dropbox link to view/download an Excel spreadsheet of social media post copy and links to graphics and other assets
  • Links below to railroad safety videos that you can embed on your website and share on social media
  • A template press release, attached, for your agency to personalize and distribute on September 22 to publicize your participation in Operation Clear Track
  • A template letter, attached, for you to personalize and post on your website with information on Operation Clear Track, and
  • An example of the pocket safety cards is attached. You may request a box on the registration link.

For more info about Rail Safety and Operation Lifesaver, please visit Operation Lifesaver’s Rail Safety Week landing page.

Additional details and links to additional rail safety materials will follow in the next few weeks. Feel free to contact APD Lead Communications Specialist Barbara Petito at [email protected] with any questions.
